Hi everyone:
There are ALWAYS fun things to do during summer break. Sometimes we just need little prompts or reminders to get those creative juices flowing. I think we get stuck in a rut and forget there’s fun to be had in literally every direction. So here’s a list you can pull from for ideas!
Plan a Creative Picnic
Just grab some snacks from the pantry and an old blanket and go sit and enjoy nature at a favorite park with friends.
Plan a Movie Night
Take a vote on which movie, make sure everyone dresses in pajamas, have all the drinks and snacks prepared, and enjoy your night together (my favorite date night since COVID).
Barbecue
Who doesn’t love BBQs? They are also perfect for summer :-). Drinks, Hotdogs, burgers, potato/macaroni salads, coleslaw, and some potato/macaroni salad and you are good to go. Don’t forget to turn on the radio 🙂
Play like a kid in your backyard (with your kid)
Take me back to those days when I used to spend my summer weekends playing monopoly, scrabble, battleship, etc., and my all-time favorite: hide & seek. It’s like reconnecting with the child in us and it is so relaxing and therapeutic.
Plant a garden
If you’re lucky enough to have a backyard that gets some decent sun, planting a garden is one of the best, low-cost things to do in the summer. It’ll keep you busy all season long, and bonus – you’ll enjoy fresh, delicious produce, too! No backyard? No problem! Tons of herbs and veggies – like tomatoes, peppers, carrots, and basil – do really well in containers.
Host a bake-off
I love cooking and it’s more fun when you are sharing your kitchen with some of your favorite people. And a little competition is all you need to make it more enjoyable.
Potluck Party
I love potluck parties. Definitely an opportunity to have fun and chillax while discovering the hidden talents of your dear friends (unless they bring you takeouts :-)).
At-home day Spa
You don’t need a spa day at a real spa — just spend a little time transforming your own bathroom into an at-home one you can pamper yourself in.
Learn how to make something from scratch
Whether it’s art & craft, cooking, or learning how to become handier around the house, anything works. T
Attend a workshop to develop a skill or learn something new
Self-development is taking steps to better yourself, such as by learning new skills or overcoming bad habits. An example of self-development is taking courses to learn new skills and interesting things. Why not take online training to improve one of your top 5 talents. Just food for thoughts.
What do you usually enjoy doing during summer? Comment below and let me know. In the meantime, I hope you find this post useful.
