Hi everyone,
Curating your wardrobe is very difficult contrary to what you may believe. Constantly towing the line between investing in classic pieces and splurging on those more fun, trend-driven buys can be quite challenging. As you in your journey of figuring out how to to build an effective wardrobe that suit your personal style, your morphology, your skin tone and your lifestyle, here’s 15 things that you need to get rid of right away especially if you already turn 30:
- Trend driven pieces that don’t suit you: We all buy that piece of fashion just because it looked good on an instagram model but never get to wear it because it’s either doesn’t fit, poor quality or doesn’t flatter you . Donate Your Unworn Fast Fashion Items and Invest in Quality Basics. Even if some of them fit you, let’s all agree that some of them must go.
- Poor fitting dress: A quick trip to the taylor can change everything. Adjusting a tiny bit at the hip or a tweaking a hemline at the ankle can make an item so much more expensive than it is
- Low rise jeans: Replace low rise jeans by a classic pair of high rise wide-leg or straight leg jeans.
- Skin tight bodycon dresses: Go for low back cocktail dresses in silk or satin with a silk feel material
- Mini skirts/dresses: It’s not that I don’t like them but it’s better keeping a wardrobe of multi-function, multi-occasion pieces and those are not part of the list. Let’s take a minute to think about the versatility of a midi skirt.
- Tube tanks: We all love them and I must admit; but think of replacing your tube tanks by camisole (silk or sateen with silk feel) Tube tops have a time and place, sure, but for everyday layering, we think a slinky tank is a more elevated choice.
- Cheesy prints and saying tee: For our every day work wardrobe, let’s go for something more artful and elevated.
- Jewelry that can turn your skin green:We have nothing against inexpensive jewelry. Just make sure you’re buying it from a trusted brand that won’t negatively impact your skin. Avoid plastic jewelry coated in silver or gold paint; these are the worst offenders
- Cheap ballet flats: I would personally recommend to replace those by good quality pair of pointed-toe 3″ classic heels but if you must wear flat you can still keep it classy : elegant pointed-toe flat, high quality ballerinas and loafers can also be used to elevate your wardrobe.
- Old underwear: I will leave this right there. I am 100% positive that we all understand and know what to do.
