Hi everyone,
Happy Weekend! if you are a classic and elegant lady or just prefer to stick to a timeless look this post is definitely for you. While there is nothing inherently wrong with trends as long as people participate in them thoughtfully.
It’s important that no matter what your personal style is to remain current and this can be done by ensuring that the clothes that you are wearing suit your body shape (horizontally and vertically), lifestyle, and style personality and also flatter your skin complexion. But it is also important to incorporate a few trends here and there into your wardrobe to help elevate your look and express your style personality.
Rather than blindly following the latest trend on social media, we should be focused on developing our own personal style, investing in pieces that we genuinely love regardless of how popular they are. So for today’s blog post, I want to highlight 5 2023 fashion trends that you will certainly find in your closet to help you stay current and have some fun with your outfits no matter how old or young you actually are.
The Denim trends
From double-waisted jeans to carpenter jeans, it’s been a while since we were this excited about denim trends. It seems like even the most luxe runway designers agree, sending out strapless dresses, shirting, and even undergarments and shoes (denim thigh-high boots anyone?) in the material. Whatever category you decide on, opt for timeless cuts and silhouettes that can stay in your closet rotation once the novelty wears off.
A total look jeans paired with neutral accessories (tan or nude) is a great way to start.
Maxi Skirt
In response to the ultra unpractical mini skirts of 2022, maxi skirts are here to dominate the year. In line with the aforementioned cargo and denim trends, expect lots of low-rise, pocket-adorned silhouettes, and floor-grazing jean skirts, as well as styles in various prints and unexpected materials like velvet. Long live long hemlines!
As long as your maxi skirt flatter your body shape, you can easily wear it with a blazer (also trending), denim jacket/ moto jacket (classic), or with your favorite top. The key here is “accessories”.
Suits
Slouchy, oversized blazers were all the rage at Valentino and even Chanel opted for relaxed-fit versions of its trademark bouclé jackets in playful pinks. If you’re a die-hard sharp tailoring gal, luckily Victoria Beckham came through with simply tailored blazers that acted as mini dresses.
Suits will always be timeless. Opt for those that flatter your body shape the most. And when in doubt, stick to the classic cut and jazz it up by adding a pop of color or an elevated version of another classic: a crop poplin shirt for instance.
Sequins & metallics
While sequins may feel over as soon as the clock strikes midnight on January 31, this year, designers are making a case for “daytime shine” – wearable separates that can spice up even the most basic staples like tank tops (see above) and blue jeans. While this trend comes in all metallic shades (gold, bronze, rose gold, etc.), we are partial to the liquid silver look that can double as a neutral.
The key to making this trend more wearable in the daytime is to mix it with casual pieces. For example, a sequins/metallic top paired with a favorite denim. I have a sequins jogger and my favorite way of wearing it with with a white button-down shirt with a waistcoat or a suit with some heels. I could’ve also made it more casual with a pair of sneakers.
Trending Colors
If all of the above sounds complicated, the most effective way to get on board with trends is by getting inspired by the in-season colors. This year we are expecting to see a lot of cobalt blue, magenta (viva magenta, hot pink, or Valentino pink), green & brown. All of those colors look effortlessly chic and trendy simply by pairing them with black. Brown goes is also a neutral color that will go with pretty much everything.
Check out one of my most recent posts on how to wear the brown trend color.
So what are your favorite 2023 trends? And what are your thoughts about my picks? Personally, this year my goal is to embrace more colors 🙂 especially when my favorite colors are trending (pink & magenta). Comment below and let me know.
Thanks for stopping by.

I’m obsessed with denim and I wear it almost every day lol! I’m also thrilled that sequins and metallics feature strongly this year because you can never have enough of those, can you?! Fabulous!

Love this suit combination and the hat was truly icing on the cake. Absolutely love everything about this post. I love a good suit in a bold color and although I have one in a hot pink, now I am thinking I need one in green too. I will say that the trend I am most excited about is the return of the maxi skirt, it’s been on my list of things to purchase.
