Hi everyone,
Happy belated thanksgiving! Hoping you and your loved ones have lots to be grateful for this Thanksgiving. This Thanksgiving, I’m thankful for our friendship. Sending all the good wishes to you and your loved ones.
That being said, right about now is when the countdown starts ticking for the holiday madness to begin. To make things a bit easier this year, we’ve put together a list of five rules for holiday dressing (don’t worry, they’re really more like guidelines) to make outfit planning far less stressful
1. Lean Into the Spirit of the Season
Even if you tend to lean toward a neutral color palette for the rest of the year, consider adding some pops of gold, silver, or red to jazz things up for the holidays. And if you are in the mood, why not add one of this year’s trendy colors? I personally fancy Valentino Pink. It doesn’t even need to be big—a pine green clutch or orange leaf-inspired pair of flats will go a long way.
2. This Probably Isn’t the Time to Go Super Sexy
Of course, there are exceptions to this “rule,” but your office holiday party or dinner with Grandma and all your nieces and nephews isn’t the place for super-low necklines and micro miniskirts. Save the va-va-voom pieces for New Year’s with your friends or date night with your partner and instead embrace styles with a bit more coverage for family get-togethers.
3. It Is, However, the Time to Go Glam
Velvet and sequins and feathers, oh my! If ever there was a time to go all in on sparkle and shine, it’s now. To make these luxe, evening-ready pieces feel more appropriate for the day, try balancing them with very casual basics. We’re talking plain white tees, cotton button-ups, minimalist sneakers, and/or all the denim (jackets, shirts, jeans, etc.).
4. When In Doubt, Do Classic Monochrome
I know, I know, you are thinking: classic head-to-toe black. Actually, it doesn’t matter whether you prefer a little black dress, or a coordinating suit, wearing head-to-toe black is a surefire way to look chic and elegant. But have you considered, a total red look, or green or pink? If you like the neutral: Ecru is actually trending right now same for those tan, cognac, and chocolaty tones :-). And, as an added bonus, they serve as the perfect base to play around with kooky accessories like shoulder-grazing statement earrings, rainbow-beaded handbags, or feather-adorned heels. Of course, you also can’t go wrong with some pearl studs and a simple wristwatch either—it’s totally up to you.
5. Don’t forget to let your personality shine thru
Don’t forget to add your own twist. Bottom line, we want you to feel beautiful, look and walk with confidence. Your body confidence is actually what will be you stand out during the holiday season. So don’t forget to put your own spin on things.
So, what are your plans for this holiday season? Comment below and let me know. For now, I can’t wait to wear this gorgeous Chicwish sweater dress to one of the few events that I will attend this year. Do not forget to visit them if you are still on the hunt for the perfect outfits this season.
Thanks for stopping by.
