Hi Everyone,
Happy Sunday! It’s officially Summer :-). I am “Beach Body”ready but there won’t be any beach activities until quarantining is over. However, I can see myself rocking my bathing suit (still looking for the perfect one: high waisted bottom + underwired bra) by the pool with the kids. Maybe I will feel confident enough to share some footage? Who knows? I recently wrote about summer fashion, trends and must-haves in 2020 (here). As we welcome Summer, I think it’ll be fun to share the trends I am looking forward to trying and those I don’t really care for. So here’s 5 summer trends I want to add to my wardrobe and 5 that I will skip:
5 Summer Trends 2020 That I am not going to wear.
- Exposed thongs: One word: “Classless”
- Accentuations Bra: I have mixed feelings about this one. I like a cute bra under a sheer top but do we need more of that?
- Neon colors: Not a personal choice. I can use them as an accent color to give some character to an outfit however, I find from head-to-toe neon outfit very tacky. Therefore, I’ll pass.
- Chunky boots: I don’t have anything against it. It is just not a style favorite. Don’t get me wrong I love cute boots but the chunky boots are not a favorite because I think they lack femininity.
- Tie-dye: Looks like they plan on sticking around for a while. I love colors but they remind me of a college girl not a grown-up. And some of them look so tacky.
5 Summer Trends 2020 I want to add to my wardrobe:
- Babydoll dress: I love this effortless look. I personally prefer a more flattering silhouette but for some reason I think I will enjoy wearing this new trend.
- Colorful faux leather outfit: skirt, pant, jumpsuit? I can’t wait to put my hands on a few pieces. I got my eye on a beautiful baby pink leather mini skirt.
- Square toe heels: Another favorite from high school. I need a pair of heeled flip flops with square toes. I like that they lengthen your legs. It adds a special touch to your ensemble in a unique way. They have been trying to make a come back for almost 2 years now and it’s time for me to get my “perfect pair”.
- Polo shirt: Take me back to my early 20s when Lacoste and Aeropostale Polos were a big trend. I got rid of mine last year – and now they are back. Although, I’m not much into polos anymore, I feel that I can rock one of those RL jewels color Polo
- Loungewear shorts: How controversial? I don’t like loungewear – I mean not at all – but shorts are another story… I can picture myself walking around the house with my loungewear short and a crop top. Am I too old for that?

You look gorgeous in this dress! A beautiful color and print, so perfect for summer! Great list of what you'll skip this summer and what you want to add to your wardrobe. I just got a pair of square toe heeled slides (found at a clearance price at Nordstrom) but not sure they are "me". Still trying to decide if I want to keep them or not…

Thank you Ellibelle- some of the square toe heeled sandals I saw kinda looked weird. I hope you find the perfect pair- I am still on the hunt for mine 🙂

You are gorgeous in that dress. I'm with you on the no trends, except maybe the tie dye. I'm still looking for a grown up classy piece but I may have to stick with just wearing that print in my workout wear.

Thank you Fonda, I hope you find your perfect classy piece before summer ends 🙂

I love that dress and hat so much! I will need to look more into lounge wear shorts. Since I'm not leaving my house much, I want some more comfy shorts to wear that aren't jeans.

they are so cute – I can't wait to put my hands on them 🙂

Beautiful dress, bag, and hat! I did have to chuckle at how different our personal styles are but yet we can appreciate the beauty in that! I love tie dye and chunky boots and I really dislike square toed shoes of any sort and polo shirts! Haha. Thanks for sharing these fun trends and linking up! I always adore your style!

Thank you Shelbee :-). Lmao – True – Chunky boots is a big no for me- I think I am too girly. I own one tie-dye maxi dress that I really love and my last post also feature a tie-dye dress- I like it when it's well done and I guess I don't like regular tie-dye t-shirt – lmao. The other pieces remind me of my younger self – I can't help it but I won't go crazy over them – lmao
