Hi everyone,
With their looser fit, paperbag waist pants are known for their comfort. However, they can also be an incredibly chic piece for your wardrobe that you can wear to the office, school, running errands, or even a night out. Because of the ruffled waistline and extra volume, they can often be tricky to style. The key with paperbag waist pants is balancing the looser fit on bottom with a tighter or shorter top. Not only does that provide a more proportioned look, it helps the waist detail stand out. Today I am sharing 5 tips to help you create the most flattering silhouette for your figure.
- Pair your paperbag-waist pants with a fitted button down shirt, tank top or a crop top;
- Opt for slim layering pieces if you want to wear a jacket, cardigan or blazer. A cropped style will be your best friend here. Avoid boyfriend style blazers which are to loose to work with the pants
- Wear spanks. A paperbag-waist pants will accentuate your tummy area. If you are on the fuller figure, you might need to consider a shapewear to help create the perfect balance
- Replace the fabric belt that usually come with it with a thin leather belt. It will also help create the balance that you need to flatter your silhouette
- Also beware of cheap fabric. The cheaper the fabric the more challenging it will be for you to look good in those pants.
A few more things to consider:
- Paperbag-waist pants are unflattering on rectangular body shape. If you have a rectangular body shape and you would like to rock those pants then tips #3 & 4 are for you (same for round shape body type);
- If you want to wear a loose top with your paperbag-waist pants, consider a crop top
- It’s easiest to get away with wearing flats with paperbag-waist pants if you’re tall otherwise consider at least a pair of classic 3″ heeled shoes.
