Hi everyone,
Fashion has always had a way of taking our core wardrobe essentials — outerwear, underwear, and everything in between — and turning them into statement pieces. It’s no surprise, then, that the protective face coverings we’ve been advised (and in some cases, ordered) to wear outdoors to curb the spread of the coronavirus have quickly been embraced and beautified by the fashion world. Whether you are on a budget, want to leave the surgery mask for the health professionals or simply want to express yourself, the washable mask has become more and more popular – one more fashion forward piece to add in our wardrobe. Today I share 5 tips to help you pick your perfect fashionable mask.
Today I am featuring my Veve Collection masks. Veve Collection doesn’t need introduction: they are a handmade handbag business operating in Haiti since 2006 and owned by Phelicia Dell. They are very well known for their creativity and their handmade fashion forward pieces : their bestsellers Veve handbags and clutches collections (check out my previous post here for more), their clothing line and now their face masks. I have tried a couple masks from different brand and the Veve masks are the best I tried so far. I kid you not, the craftsmanship in those pieces are amazing.
About the Brand.-
The VèVè Collections brand represents a synthesis of magic and logic that stands for originality, authenticity, value and a truly inspirational distinctive fashion style. The revolutionary designs, the coupling of fabrics with beadings, sequins, and hand painted cloths, the finishing and the stitching make each piece a work of art. It is with sublime madness that Phelicia promotes and sells Haiti to the largest networks throughout the fashion world. They are often imitated but never duplicated. Visit their website (here) or their IG page (here and here) for more info about their products.
So it looks like we’re going to be wearing cloth face masks for a while, which is all the more reason to find one that you like. So here’s my top 5 tips to master the wear of your washable masks:
- The face mask is on your face, so it is important to pick a color that flatter your skin tone. If you have warm undertone think of Autumn colors and if you have cool undertone think of Winter colors.
- Unless you plan to have one mask for each outfit, using a light neutral color is recommended.
- Pat on a lightweight moisturizer to hydrate your skin.
- Do not put heavy makeup under the mask. Focus on the eyes 🙂
- Ensure your mask is made of 100% cotton material and passes the spray test.
Don’t forget to have fun and use your mask as another means to express yourself and be creative.

P.S. This post was long overdue. I was never happy with the results. I wanted the mask to stand out and I think that the headwrap was perfect – mostly because my hair is a mess.

Love the scarf in your hair and what fun masks! We don't have to wear masks here which is good as I imagine it would be tricky getting the kids used to them! 🙂 There aren't a lot of cases in the community here, most are from travellers who have been isolated so you only see a few people out with masks each day!
Hope that you had a great weekend 🙂
Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! The new link up is live on my blog now, I'd love you to join again. 🙂

Those are some lovely masks. Will have to check out Veve. I've been sewing my own and these have inspired me to become more creative with mine. I do feel we will be needing them for a while. So why not wear ones that are interesting? Your head wrap is magnificent, btw, as is that chartreuse blouse you are wearing with the suit.

Thank you Theresa 🙂
