Hi everyone,
How have you been doing? I had a very busy week. Not that I am complaining. It was very rewarding yet tiring. I will leave this here because I know one of my MD friend is going to come for me because I am “doing too much”. Anyway, I hope you will have a very nice weekend. On another note, how is your diet since the quarantine? I know the list goes on and on when it comes to what you need to eat to stay healthy and to boost your immune system during the COVID-19 season. But if you can’t keep up with all the do’s and don’ts, here’s what you have to remember.
- Limit your salt intake : WHO recommends consuming less than 5 g of salt per day. With that in mind, homemade meals are the best option to control your salt intake. If you are eating canned food, try to consider low salt or salt free food. You may also want to consider rinsing your canned foods to remove some of the excess of sodium.
- Limit your sugar intake : If you crave something sweet, fresh fruit should always be the priority. But if you still feel like eating sugar, ensure that your desserts are low in sugar and consume small portions.
- Limit your fat intake: WHO recommends limiting total fat intake to less than 30% of total energy intake, of which no more than 10% should come from saturated fat. Reduce foods such as red and fatty meats, butter and full-fat dairy products, palm oil, coconut oil, solid shortening and lard.
- Consume enough fiber: Fibre contributes to a healthy digestive system and offers a prolonged feeling of fullness, which helps prevent overeating. To ensure an adequate fibre intake, aim to include vegetables, fruit, pulses and wholegrain foods in all meals. Whole Grains foods include oats, brown pasta and rice, quinoa and whole-wheat bread and wraps, rather than refined grain foods such as white pasta and rice, and white bread.
- Stay hydrated or increase your water intake: Avoid drinking large amounts of strong coffee, strong tea (this is for my caribbean people lol), and especially caffeinated soft drinks and energy drinks. These may lead to dehydration and can negatively impact your sleeping patterns.
- Avoid alcohol or reduce consumption. Alcohol is not a necessary part of your diet and not part of a healthy lifestyle and should therefore not be on your shopping list especially during this period. Although you might need a sip or 2 to keep you going through this madness. Please proceed with caution.
- Enjoy family meals (it is fun): Family meals are an important opportunity for parents to be role models for healthy eating, and for strengthening family relationships. Here’s to the perfect opportunity to teach your kids to cook healthy meals yet another occasion for bonding.

So how is your eating habits since this pandemic hit us. Were you able to keep up with your healthy eating goals? Or are you using food as a way of escaping the current situation. Personally, I am so concerned about not getting back to my old eating habits that I unintentionally lost 5lbs. I’m hoping to gain some muscle once I am able to workout again. Comment below and share what has been working for you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Xo,

Eating healthy is easy for me and become my routine so pandemic or not I'll stick to it. I will add if we don't respect the tips that you have listed especially limit our sugar intake it will affect our immune system. And nowadays we do need our soldiers aka immune system to be as stronger as possible.
Liking the new panorama of your pictures. The whole outfit : dress + bag 🙂 really elegant (super class!)

Eating healthy is key with this pandemic. Limiting sodium, sugar, fat, eating fresh and healthy foods full of fiber and nutrients are definitely key :-).
Thank you for noticing the changes :-). Have you received your newsletter yet?

After a couple weeks of overindulging, I am getting back on track with being more careful with my sugar intake and cutting down my eating window: Trying to be done with dinner before 6:30 and no snacking after that. I can already tell a difference.
