Hi everyone,
Happy weekend, With Summer coming in less than a week, I already went thru my closet and pull out all my cute summer dresses. My favorites are the maxi dresses. I mean seriously, what would summer be without the maxi dress? The flowy, floor-grazing appeal of a maxi dress is undeniable. So is their extreme comfort, wearable fit that looks good on everybody, and versatility. With the right maxi dress in your closet, you’ve got a go-to piece that you can easily dress up or down, for daytime style, casual weekends, wedding guest attire, beach vacation dressing, and special evenings out. Here’s a list of 10 ways you can style your maxi dresses:
- Add a belt: Do you love the forgiving silhouette of a flowing maxi dress for summer, but worry that your figure will get lost in all that fabric? The easiest way to create a flattering silhouette in a loose dress is to belt it at the waist. It will instantly accentuate your waist and balance out the whole look.
- Add a blazer and wear to work : One of my favorite way to wear my maxi dresses. This was my go to outfit for my 1st pregnancy. Cute maxi dress, well tailored blazer (lightweight) and a pair of heels.
- Add a scarf : Take your outfit to the next level by adding a scarf around your neck or all around your handbag. My favorite scarves are the silk chain (Versace or Chanel inspired) ones.
- Add colorful accessories: You can amplify the beauty of a long, summer dress in a bold hue or pattern, by adding brightly colored accessories that keep the eye moving around your outfit.
- Add a moto-jacket : Cozy date night anyone? Layer a biker-style leather or suede jacket over a long, pretty maxi dress anytime you want to add some edgy cool. Wear with ankle boots and a pair of sunglasses, for a streetwise outfit that’s wearable and stylish for everything from shopping in the city, to meeting friends for dinner.
- Add a denim jacket: A fun layering piece for those chilly afternoon in the mountain.
- Add a knot: For that effortless, casual vibe and to avoid getting your dress hem dirty, tie the bottom in an easy knot (right or left) of your jersey maxi dress.
- Add a summer hat or a headscarf:The headscarf is one of those confident, stand-out fashion accessories that adds style cred to your entire look. Try wearing one with a maxi dress this summer to take even the most casual jersey dress to the next level.
- Add patterns: Maxi dresses come in all colors of the rainbow, and about as many patterns as you can imagine, so there’s no need to play it safe! A long, maxi dress in an all-over, eye-catching pattern is not only comfortable, it’s a fabulous way to turn heads and stand out from the crowd. Polka dots anyone?
- Add color blocking with separates: A bold, brightly colored cotton maxi dress can look fabulous on its own for summer but adding layers is the key to creating a street style look. So why not get creative? Try wearing a colorful summer maxi dress with a jacket in a different, bright hue, to create a color blocked outfit that feels just right for summer fashion.

I just ordered a maxi dress and love the suggestions, especially the color block idea. Thinking about what to wear with it before i ordered, my mind went to the denim jacket or sweater idea in a like color. It seems that when I have a maxi dress, it is the last thing I go to in my closet and I want to change that and wear it more often. In addition to that, it will be challenging this summer with Covid-19 restrictions to go many places.
The teal color looks beautiful on you!

I love the combo of the big white hat with this dress, the bag and the roses. I worry that maxis overwhelm my petite frame, but you certainly rocked it here, so maybe I'll be braver!
