10 ways to learn to like yourself better

March 28, 2020 by Moumous |

Hi everyone,

Happy Saturday! I am sending positive vibes your way for the weekend. Day 9 im quarantine and I am feeling better. I woke up this morning (Friday Mar 27) and I told myself, I need to find time to create something and I was able to accomplish that. Check out my IGTV for 15 outfit ideas to wear at home during the confinement. Anyway, I digress. The basis for a positive sense of self-esteem is that you accept yourself as you are, not as you “may” be. This doesn’t mean that you’re never self-critical or that you should never change, but that you’re able to live with being flawed and with your own approach to trying to make yourself a bit less so. With that said,  today I am sharing 10 ways that you can become a self-liker rather than a self-critic.

  • Don’t be afraid to confront your failings. They are teaching moments. Learn from them and move forwards with no regrets.

  • Step back and enjoy your accomplishments. When you’ve done something well, don’t be afraid to admit that you succeeded. It doesn’t have to be something earth-shattering: Having cooked a good meal, eat it with pleasure and allow any compliments from those you cooked for to sink in.
  • Learn to look at the things you like about yourself in the mirror. Do I need to say more?
  • Go on a date with yourself. On the date, spend some time alone devoted to thinking about your experiences: Enjoy a movie or a meal at your favorite restaurant while you spend time reflecting on what’s going on around you. You can even laugh at your own jokes.
  • Strive to be a better person, but don’t expect changes to happen all at once. Give yourself a realistic timeline and measure yourself against smaller, achievable goals. And please, stop comparing yourself to others.

  • Spend a weekend day or evening without worrying about how you look. Yes! There, I said it.
  • Think about the past, but don’t let yourself be overwhelmed with regret. Easier said  than done, right? The past is the past, you can think about it to identify ways to better yourself but there isn’t anything else you can do. Learn to forgive and to apologize. It will make your life easier.
  • Understand that no one is perfect. When you’re in low self-acceptance mode, you believe that everyone is better than you. It’s possible that others are better than you in certain ways, but that doesn’t mean you’re any less of a person yourself. Instead of comparing yourself negatively, accept that fact, and then see if you can learn from it.
  • Enjoy your personality, foibles and all. So you’re a little bit too meticulous and want everything to be perfect. When things don’t work out as you wish and you start to berate your weaknesses, stop and do a reality check.
  • Like “most” of yourself as much as you can. You’re may not reach 100% self-satisfaction, but maybe you can get to 75 or 80%. In the measure of self-acceptance it is proven that getting high scores meant saying you are happy with “most” of your personality traits.

And remember, life is short. Love yourself and be happy. You can’t love anyone around you if you don’t love yourself. I myself is in a journey of becoming a better version of myself. I have so many flaws and some that I will never be able to fix and that’s where my beauty lies. That’s where my strength and confidence come from. As usual, I am always waiting to read your feedback and comments.

Thanks for stopping by.

XoXo,

Moumous

Every detail tells a story: The bold frames remind Every detail tells a story: The bold frames remind me to see the world differently, with courage and color. The white blazer reflects clarity, purpose, and a fresh chapter. And, the gold accents? A reminder that value comes from within, but shines brightest when you carry it with confidence.

For me, power dressing isn’t about looking intimidating, but about embodying authenticity. It’s the art of aligning how you present yourself on the outside with the strength and vision you hold within.

Because when you walk in your truth, style becomes your silent introduction.

Styling is a calling that humbles you. Moments lik Styling is a calling that humbles you. Moments like this, kneeling on the floor, adjusting the delicate strap of a sandal, remind me that elegance isn’t just built in front of mirrors, but in the quiet details no one always sees.

Having the privilege to style fashion designer Stella Jean @stellajean_sj_ during her visit to Haiti @haifex.ht was more than work; it was a reminder of why I do what I do. It’s about service, attention, and the joy of seeing someone step into a look that makes them feel like their best self. The reward? That sparkle in their eyes when they stand tall, ready to take on the world.
