Hi everyone,
The holiday season will be here before you know it, so it may be time to stop whining about how early it is. Planning ahead of time is the most effective way to save money, headaches, and even your sanity! Have you started the “Christmas Chat” with your family yet? Who will be the host? What will the location be? When will lunch be served? Who will be invited? What do you have planned for so-and-so? And so forth. If you wait until the last minute, or even just before Christmas, you may find yourself stressed out, unhappy, panicked, and not even looking forward to the most wonderful time of the year.

As a result, preparing for Christmas early is practically in our blood. Making a list is a simple way to get started. Everything becomes much more manageable once you have a list. Advance holiday planning truly puts you in control and can help alleviate all of the unpleasant things that can accompany Christmas if you don’t plan ahead of time; stress, debt, and chaos!
So, what do you need to start getting prepared?

Set Yourself A Budget
Before you can even think about getting ready for Christmas, you should figure out your budget so that you can plan wisely. Remember to include everything you will require. This includes food, decorations, gifts, outings, the obligatory tacky jumpers…even postage stamps for Christmas cards and parking at the mall. Determine how much you will need to spend and where you will spend it, and write it all down. You’ll then have an effective way to manage your money so that you don’t overspend closer to the big day. Does your partner really want something from Opals Australia? Make sure you include it in your budget.
Plan Your Calendar
The month of December and the period leading up to Christmas are hectic. Fill your schedule and diary with everything from parties to school functions, family gatherings, term times, etc that may come to mind. If you have children in school, make a note of when they break up and any festive plays that may be held. Are you going to order a turkey? Make a note of the times you can order and pick it up. Don’t be afraid to be a pedant. Make a list of the days you’ll need to do the big Christmas food shopping – the more coordinated you are now, the better it will be later.
Who’s Hosting Christmas?
You should prepare earlier if you know you will be hosting. Now is the time to have the discussion so that both you and the other person will be prepared. In some cases, they might need to tell all their friends and family members that they will be spending Christmas at your house, so the more notice you can give all parties, the better.
These are three important things to make sure you get sorted sooner rather than later when it comes to getting ready for Christmas. Do you think anything else should be included? Please add them in the comments section.
Thanks for stopping by.

These are good tips! I always tend to go over budget for Christmas, haha! I start shopping in June and right now I’ve got most things but I’m still looking for something special for my sister – I only have 2 things right now and I like to get her a big thing as well as a couple little things. We always go all out for Christmas!
Hope that you are having a great weekend 🙂 Thankfully the rain has stopped here!
