Hair Care Regimen

November 1, 2015 by Moumous |

Hi everyone,

I received many emails/requests about my hair care regimen so I decided to publish a list of products that I’am using/ have used or would recommend. So keep reading if you want to know more and have afro-american hair type.Whether you are natural, relaxed or texturized, these products should work for you. I have personally used every single of the recommended products below. I have 4b relaxed hair and I also dye my hair from time to time.

Honestly, my all time favorite hair care line is Kerastase from L’Oreal, Paris. However, I recently decided to have a more healthy hair journey focusing on using organic products as much as possible that’s how I discovered or rediscovered Carol’s Daughter, Shea Moisture and some more of the good products out there (there are so them). I hope the post can be somewhat useful to you.

What you have to remember, whatever hair care products you decide to go with, please avoid harsh chemicals that will destroy your hair. They are the most popular and cheapest on the market and I guess that’s why so many of us are struggling with fine, weak, dry to extra dry hair with breakage and split ends as bonus.

Before we start, I want to share a list of harsh chemicals that you find in hair products that you must try to avoid as much as possible in you hair care regimen (lately, I have been focusing on DIY for shampoo, conditionner, hair mask, hairdress & more):

  1. Alcohol when listed as one of the first four ingredients
  2. Ammonium lauryl sulfate
  3. Diethanolamine (DEA)
  4. Dimethicone
  5. Formaldehyde
  6. Lanolin
  7. Mineral oil
  8. Parabens (methylparaben, propylparaben, for example)
  9. Petroleum
  10. Polyethelyne glycol (also called PEG/polyethelyne, or polyoxyethelyne)
  11. Propylene glycol
  12. Sodium chloride
  13. Sodium laureth sulfate
  14. Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS)
  15. Synthetic colors (often listed as FD&C or D&C followed by a color and a number)
  16. Synthetic fragrance or parfum
  17. Triethanolamine (TEA)

MOST IMPORTANTLY

A woman must drink 3L of water per day. For a healthy hair a minimum of 2 L is recommended.

REMEMBER

1-  Do not mix more than 3 oils at a time. You may add a few drops of 1 or 2 essential oils. Make sure that your combination contain at least one carrier oil such as: olive oil, avocado oil or coconut oil. For end sealing treatment, use one carrier oil and a sealing oil such as BJCO, grapeseed oil or jojoba oil.

2- Other products I’ve heard great things about: Avlon Kera Care Hair Care line, Avlon FiberGuard Hair Care line, Miss Jessie, Macadamia Hair,  BumbleandBumble, MorrocaOil.  Do not mix too many products/brand at a time. I do not own all of the above at once (beside the natural oils that can’t do no harm)

3- When you find a shampoo&conditionner that work for you stick to them. You can play with the natural oils and homemade treatments depending of your current hair needs.

4- If you don’t have a well-balanced diet, take a Hair Supplement.

5- Avoid heat styling tools as much as possible and use a heat protector when you have to.

Now tell me, have you already tried one of these products. If so, please share your feedback below. Thank you so much for reading.

XoXo,

Moumous

Every detail tells a story: The bold frames remind Every detail tells a story: The bold frames remind me to see the world differently, with courage and color. The white blazer reflects clarity, purpose, and a fresh chapter. And, the gold accents? A reminder that value comes from within, but shines brightest when you carry it with confidence.

For me, power dressing isn’t about looking intimidating, but about embodying authenticity. It’s the art of aligning how you present yourself on the outside with the strength and vision you hold within.

Because when you walk in your truth, style becomes your silent introduction.

Styling is a calling that humbles you. Moments lik Styling is a calling that humbles you. Moments like this, kneeling on the floor, adjusting the delicate strap of a sandal, remind me that elegance isn’t just built in front of mirrors, but in the quiet details no one always sees.

Having the privilege to style fashion designer Stella Jean @stellajean_sj_ during her visit to Haiti @haifex.ht was more than work; it was a reminder of why I do what I do. It’s about service, attention, and the joy of seeing someone step into a look that makes them feel like their best self. The reward? That sparkle in their eyes when they stand tall, ready to take on the world.
