Hi everyone,
I am sorry but the Saturday post is only coming out now, not because I was too busy to focus on it (although I was indeed really busy) but because I didn’t want to release another style tips article as I intended to do but I couldn’t come up with a topic to blog about. I initially thought of posting about my life coaching services and although I think it was a great idea, I was still not convinced that this is the topic that was meant for today. It’s 7h36 pm, Sunday night, and I just came back from a kid’s party. I was surrounded by a lot of positive and uplifting people and I spent my time talking to that extraordinary woman. And then it came up clearer as to what today’s post was supposed to be about: share about how I manage to stay positive and motivated every day. I mean not all day every day – but every day!
Everyone is motivated by different things. Understanding what motivates you can make the difference between success and failure.
Maintaining your composure by staying positive and motivated can be one of the most difficult things to do when life throws one of its many twists and turns at you especially if you are living in a country like Haiti. With that said, some people might have been programmed by genetics, chemical imbalances, and influences in their life to be more negative than others. However, there is always work that you can do on your own to reverse negative trends and control your outcome. With all of this in mind, I made a list of all the things that can help you to become more positive and motivated throughout your life. and I wrote down up to 26 ideas to be precise but I didn’t want to exceed 5 so you don’t get overwhelmed, and this was not an easy task. So I decided to break it down into 2 articles. For today, we go back to basics, here are 6 tips to stay more positive and motivated every day.
1. Begin Your Day With Positivity
When you wake up first thing in the morning, groaning and moaning might be your initial reaction. However, you should try your best to avoid these actions and, instead, start your day positively. You can do this by viewing your day ahead as something that isn’t to be feared. To reinforce these positive feelings, you can do something small but impactful like a short workout or meditate for a short amount of time.
2. Watch What You Eat
As I said, positivity is a choice. And that choice can be apparent in all aspects of your life, including your diet and as you determine what you eat each day. Staying positive is much easier when your body is taken care of and when your key nutrient requirements are satisfied (by now you get why I always talk about healthy nutrition & food supplements & vitamins). So, pass up on the unhealthy options for breakfast and reach for something more substantial and nutritious.
3. Get Some Exercise
We all know that we feel better when we exercise, and yet we often still fail to make exercise part of our regular routine. Some of the key benefits include lessening the blow of mental stress, depression, and anxiety, helping you sleep well, fueling you with positive endorphins, and more. Start with a small exercise goal and keep adding to it. Starting with small exercise goals will help to keep you from getting discouraged before you even start.
4. Put In Your Sleeping Hours
Lack of sleep and negativity can create a snowball effect. When you are not getting enough sleep, you are more emotional and unstable the next day. When you are emotionally unstable, you become more easily stressed which makes it subsequently harder to sleep the next night again. Furthermore, be sure to stay adequately hydrated throughout the day so you aren’t being woken in the middle of the night as you need to go to the bathroom.
5. Keep Positive People Close To You
Examine the time that you spend with other people and how you feel when you’re with them. If you have fond memories and you feel empowered when with them, of course, you should seek their company often. However, if you leave feeling worse about yourself, such as demotivation or feeling pessimistic, consider lessening your time spent with those individuals. There are people who you inevitably have to encounter daily, such as coworkers or classmates in college, but you can control who you spend time with the outside of obligatory peers.
6. Stay Grateful
Keeping what you’re grateful for in mind is something that should be practiced on a regular basis. Studies have shown that staying grateful and setting time aside each day to think about what you’re grateful for will help to increase the positive thoughts you have. Keeping a journal of all the things you are grateful for can also help you to at a later date. When you are going through tough times, you can go back through your journal to help encourage you to become more positive and motivated.
So this is it for today’s post, Part II should be out by Wednesday of the coming week at the latest. In the meantime…
Remember, motivation starts within. Find it, keep it and make it work for you.
