How to safely celebrate the Holidays this year

November 10, 2020 by Moumous |

Hi Everyone,

Happy Tuesday! It suddenly hit me that it’s that time of the year again. I am surprised that I got caught off guard like that given that firstly I love Christmas and secondly I have toddlers. The kids school was illuminated with Christmas decorations this morning and Aby is already asking for her Christmas tree. I am so not ready for that. Is that me or the year went by very fast. With everything that has been happening in the world I am anxious to see what 2021 will bring. As we are approaching the greatest season of the year, it’s important regardless, that we find ways to properly say goodbye to 2020.

Traditional holiday celebrations – with everyone kissing hello, enjoying appetizers from shared plates and crowding around the TV to watch the game before a buffet dinner – may encourage the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). You can still have meaningful celebrations this year, even if you modify your usual plans. During Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year Eve, honor precaution over tradition to keep your loved ones safe, especially if some of your usual guests are older or have underlying health conditions. So for today’s post, I have gathered a couple of few advice on how to safely attend or host a holiday gathering.

Attending a Holiday event

  1. Avoid greeting anyone with physical contact (hugs, kisses, etc.);
  2. Wear a mask, except when you’re eating;
  3. Wash your hands often;
  4. Stay 6 feet apart from people in other households at all times, even at mealtime;
  5. Don’t drink alcohol, so that you’ll have the right mindset to make safe decisions.

Hosting a Holiday event

  1. Keep the guest list short;
  2. Skip hugs, kisses and handshakes;
  3. Hve everyone wear masks when they aren’t eating;
  4. Keep people from separate households 6 feet apart;
  5. Keep your windows open to increase air circulation;
  6. Have everyone wash hands often and put paper towels near your sinks, so people don’t dry their hands on a shared towel;
  7. Stagger seating to keep separate households 6 feet apart during dinner;
  8. Appoint one person to place food on everyone’s plate, so people don’t touch shared utensils;
  9. Consider using disposable plates, flatware, napkins and tablecloths;
  10. Consider an alcohol-free event, since drinking lowers inhibitions.

So what are your plans for the holidays? I am looking for some  fun inspirations. For now, I will probably attend a few family dinners and try to create some activities for the kids. Other than that, I will keep doing what I do best: work, work, work :-).

Thanks for stopping by.

XoXo,

Moumous

    Moumous, your outfit is fabulous! I love that jacket and your boots. As for the holidays, there are just way too many rules and regulations so we are just staying home…the four of us. There is no way ever that I will wear a mask inside my own home! Sorry.

Every detail tells a story: The bold frames remind Every detail tells a story: The bold frames remind me to see the world differently, with courage and color. The white blazer reflects clarity, purpose, and a fresh chapter. And, the gold accents? A reminder that value comes from within, but shines brightest when you carry it with confidence.

For me, power dressing isn’t about looking intimidating, but about embodying authenticity. It’s the art of aligning how you present yourself on the outside with the strength and vision you hold within.

Because when you walk in your truth, style becomes your silent introduction.

Styling is a calling that humbles you. Moments lik Styling is a calling that humbles you. Moments like this, kneeling on the floor, adjusting the delicate strap of a sandal, remind me that elegance isn’t just built in front of mirrors, but in the quiet details no one always sees.

Having the privilege to style fashion designer Stella Jean @stellajean_sj_ during her visit to Haiti @haifex.ht was more than work; it was a reminder of why I do what I do. It’s about service, attention, and the joy of seeing someone step into a look that makes them feel like their best self. The reward? That sparkle in their eyes when they stand tall, ready to take on the world.
