On your left last texlax done early May- end April and on your right most recent textlax |
Hi everyone,
Upon request, I am sharing my texlax process with you. The initial commitment was to share some video footages of the overall process. but unfortunately I couldn’t make it: I borrowed a selfie stick and did not try it until the moment came for me to film. It was either too small or do not have the proper cable for either of my phones. As a result, I tried to take pictures as much as possible. I will do my best to explain how I care for my hair before, during and after a texlax process.
FYI, my last texlaxer was first week of May so I extend for almost 6 months and here are new growth.
When I decide to do my touch ups, I leave my hair to rest the week prior or at least 5 days prior with minimal manipulation between my LCO routine. At the Eve of the texlax, I use one of my mixture and heavily saturated my hair from roots to ends and GHE (GreenHouse Effect) overnight.
Can you see the new growth??? |
New Growth 🙂 |
Ready for bed: 2 plastic caps + 2 sateen bonnets (I know my head is small – lol) |
My oil mixture contains about 60% of EVOO, 20% of Coconut oil (in general the coconut is the #1 ingredient but for pre-texlax treatment it came in second or 3rd position) 7% of grapeseed oil, 5% of avocado oil 5%sesame oil & Hairfinity hair oil (sometimes I use natural amla) and the 3% is for my essential oils. This time I used: rosemary, tea tree, eucalyptus, ylang ylang, horsetail.
My hair after the GHE and getting ready for the process. Please note how greasy my hair is – I reapplied oil on the length in the morning but I could have skipped that step.
What I use for my texlax (oil in my hair + deep hydrating conditioner in the relaxer mixture). Please note there is different texlax method. This is what works for me. I have 3C type in front and 4B:
1 box of Phyto Specific Relaxer Index 1 + 2 TBSP of Mielle Organics Mongongo Oil Hydrating Conditioner.r (usually I use Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Masque but went with the Mielle because I forgot to stop by the store and get it prior to go to the salon. I still prefer the Shea Moisture) |
After the application and the regular washing process, I shampooed with an hydrating shampoo followed by a deep conditioner and went under the steamer for about 15 minutes (I think I did 20 this time).
Can you tell my hair is not fully relaxed 🙂 the back is worst: Puffy 🙂 |
Then,I rinsed out with my hydrating regular conditioner followed by my leave-in conditioner, roller set and 2 hours under the dryer set to medium heat.
The result after a very soft brushing. Please note that my hair is strong and a little puffy. I didn’t feel the need to do a proper brushing and flat iron for a length check. I’ll do it maybe for Christmas.

My long term goal is to reach WL (Waist lenght). I am currently missing about 2 inches (or maybe not since I did not flat iron my hair to get the exact length). Anyway, since my goal will be reached before the end of 2019, I am not sure what I should do next: set a new goal to reach tailbone length or go back NL or SL. What do you think? Please comment below.
With a little bit of wave just as in picture taken during previous touch ups |
Hope this help. Feedback are highly appreciated as this blogpost is created upon request.
