How to Create your Spring Wardrobe Capsule 2022

Spring is coming! and with the change in seasons comes a change in wardrobes as well. Spring breezes, gentle rains, flowers, grasses, and everything new again. If your spring wardrobe for 2021 means creating your very own capsule wardrobe, we’ve included some of the best ideas for building your own this year.

Capsule wardrobes are a great way to take modern, minimalist clothing trends and combine them with fresh new clothing ideas.

Building a capsule wardrobe will revolve around picking out the staples that you use the most to help create the foundation of your closet. Your capsule wardrobe should be under 40 pieces, but each of those pieces can be used in many different outfits and combinations to help create a fresh wardrobe without overpacking or overwhelming your closet. Your collection should include a set of constant staples and a series of new, quality items that you can only shop for once or twice a season.

1- Stick to what fits

A good rule of thumb for creating a reliable spring capsule (or any capsule for that matter) is to only keep what fits. If clothing is too small, it’s time to resist the temptation that you might someday fit into it and hand it off to someone else. If the clothing doesn’t fit right now, it’s time for the clothing to go. Same for clothes that are too big, in bad condition.

3- Take care of your shoes

Shoes can get expensive quickly, including staple pieces, so make sure that the pairs you’ve picked out in the spring will stand up to many different occasions and weather conditions. A carefully maintained pair of quality leather or suede sneakers can last decades and pair with any outfit you create

2- Good quality pants

Pants ofter seem to be the parts of our wardrobe that wear out the fastest. From constant use to frequent exposure to the elements, pants take a lot of damage, scratches, and other dings that just seem to wear them down. Invest in fewer pairs of pants if you need to, but make sure the pants you are buying are high quality and will last you a long time.

4- Stick to layers (Blazers)

Layering can be a great way to vary your existing wardrobe and make your outfits look more polished, modern, and sophisticated. Cardigan,s, sweaters, shakets, shirts, flannels: all of these can make great layering pieces that keep you fashionable year-round

5- Always accessorize

Accessories: belt, jewelry, watch, sunglasses, handbags (clutch, satchel, structured tote bag) scarves …. are always trending and are a great addition to your capsule as they will create your looks more trendy, sophisticated, modern… Always a good idea if you can invest in higher quality as they will take any boring outfit to a new level.

You may also want to stick to neutrals with a few accent colors depending on your level of comfort with miking colors. Blues, whites, blacks, beiges, khakis, chocolate & military greens are all staple colors that pair nicely with each other and can be used all seasons. They can also be easily combined with patterns such as florals, geometric, tartan, any prints for that matter. Don’t forget to choose your accent colors (3 recommended) based on your color palette. The key here, before you decide if it’s worth investing, is to make sure that colors and prints that you are picking up will pair well with at least 3 and ideally 4 other staple pieces in your closet.
