Hi everyone,
It would feel embarrassing to show up at work, party, or a job interview in the wrong attire. You may get attention but for the wrong reason. Feeling out of place can lower your self-esteem too.
But deciphering clothes to wear isn’t easy. It’s more than getting to a wear store and picking a few attires. And wearing appropriately doesn’t have to be expensive.
Knowing what to wear is extremely important. You wouldn’t want to wear worn-out jeans or shorts for a wedding. Conversely, wearing a formal gown to a sports game is downright puerile.
In most cases, you’ll get the dress code for an occasion- which could be the design or color. Your dress code is determined by:
Occasion
From a wedding to a party to the job interview, you should be able to dress appropriately. For men, a black jacket paired with a white vest, formal black shoes, and a bow tie is a perfect combination. When attending a wedding, you might be guided by the invite.
A full-length gown, glamorous makeup, and well-blending jewelry are appropriate for a lady. You may also be invited to a wedding where the dress code is formal attire. On such occasions, a formal dark suit or tuxedo will do for men and a dressy suit for ladies.
Then there are parties; evening party, birthday party, girls/boys out party, and military party. A birthday party is all fun. So you can have an attire that shows you’re in a full-blown fun mood.
However, when it comes to a military party, you need to be quite keen. Unless it’s stated to wear formal attire, ensure you refrain from overdressing. You can wear a simple trouser and buy military t-shirts online to pair with.
Season
As the seasons’ change, so should your dress code. When it comes to summer, wearing light-colored clothes is appropriate. Stay away from tight clothes and upgrade your athleisure.
More so, choose breathable fabrics to trap moisture during hot months. Go for wide-leg trousers, oversized blouses, and loose shirts to help you stay cool. You can also wear shorts, skirts, or dresses with room to breathe.
Wear leather sandals since they’re comfortable and give you a stylish look.
Winter can be a fun time to layer on your favorite clothes. Wear long silk or thermal underpants to wick moisture away.
Ensure cotton fabric doesn’t touch your skin. Once you sweat, the fabric tends to retain moisture and creates a damp layer on your skin. Instead, opt for materials like polypropylene or merino wool.
Thick, sturdy materials like wool, flannel, and fleece are suitable for the middle layer since they’re breathable and warm. A wool sweater worn with thick leggings combined with boots makes a cute winter outfit.
Ensure you protect your feet with long, thick socks. But socks shouldn’t be excessively thick to make it hard to put on your shoes. However, make them thick enough to give you warmth and comfort.
When it’s too cold, you may try two pairs.
The Bottom Line
Wearing appropriately gives you confidence and makes you feel good. You can handle your tasks effectively and productively. Ensure you get the proper attention for wearing the correct dress code.
Thanks for stopping by.
