Hi everyone:
As a Style Coach™, I believe that true beauty cannot be defined by your body shape nor measured by your dress size. It can’t be calculated by whether you are tall or short, nor can it be analyzed by whether you suit Winter or Spring colors. That’s why all my sessions include some coaching sessions to help you develop a more positive body image, value yourself more and appreciate your uniqueness. Turning what we discover during those sessions into new habits, then your feelings of self-love and acceptance will begin to rise to a beautiful new level.
In the process, I provide you with lots of tips and tricks on how you can use patterns, fabrics & cuts to maximize your body shape and feel confident in your skin daily. Today I am sharing 10 tips that you can start implementing right away if you feel conscious about having a smaller bottom. This is one of the most recurring concerns I have during the body shape analysis session.
Styling Tips
- High-waisted trousers, shorts, and skirts accentuate the smallest part of the waist & give the bottom a more rounded shape. Wear light colors to make the lower body appear bigger.
- Pencil skirts exaggerate the bottom, adding shape & curvature. A-line silhouettes are also good, but the fabric should hold its shape from the waist to the hem without going limp.
- Choose slim or skinny fit jeans with pockets, whiskering, or shading to create the illusion of shape. Stretch fabrics are much better than stiff, heavy denim. Try ‘sculpt & shape’ options.
- Pockets can add volume & shaping to the bottom– choose a medium size situated high & in the middle with extra embellishments to add dimension, shape, and fullness to the bottom.
- Skater dresses and ‘fit and flare’ styles help camouflage a flat bottom. Knee-length or miniskirts make the bottom look curvier. Similarly, peplum tops & jackets add volume to the hips.
Avoid
- Boyfriend jeans, especially with a straight yoke.
- Shift dresses and low-rise trousers.
- Flowy, lightweight fabrics on the lower body.
- Midi- and maxi-length skirts that elongate & slim.
- Vertical details & color-blocking on the leg.
I hope that you enjoyed today’s blog post and don’t forget to let me know of any additional tips and tricks you use to help you feel more confident in your skin.
