Hi everyone,
We all know that the official Valentine’s day colors are : Red, White and Pink. Although, I enjoy wearing red and white – mostly white, pink is my favorite color :-). Today I’m sharing the meaning of those three colors for a better understanding as of why they have been chosen to represent love.
The Color Red
Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love. The color red, very vibrant and emotional color has long been understood to represent life, love, war and death. Interestingly, these passions and experiences of humankind can all be found in the very first account of man in the Bible. The first human life in all creation was a man named “Adam.” It is worth noting that the name in Hebrew shares a root with the words “red” and “ground.”
The color White
The color white is generally understood to symbolize purity. When speaking of the forgiveness of sins, Isaiah 1:18 says, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” White is color at its most complete and pure, the color of perfection. The psychological meaning of white is purity, innocence, wholeness and completion. White contains an equal balance of all the colors of the spectrum, representing both the positive and negative aspects of all colors.
The Color Pink
The color pink is the color of universal love of oneself and of others. Pink represents friendship, affection, harmony, inner peace, and approachability. Pink is the official color for little girls and represents sugar and spice and everything nice. Pink is the sweet side of the color red. On Valentine’s day I would love to wear a combination of all colors with pink being the center of attention. As pink is the lovely result of combining red and white to serve as a reminder of how significant meaning of the colors red and white work together to tell the complete love story between Jesus Christ and his church (also because it is my favorite Color :-)).
