Hi everyone,
Before you go on to say Valentine’s Day is overrated, let me just stop you right there. I, for one, LOVE Valentine’s Day, (it’s a different story for my husband!). From surprise gifts and candlelight dinners to true romance and the festive ambiance, there is something special about the day that gives you butterflies in your stomach.
If you are like me, you must start planning to do something special for your special someone well in advance. Perhaps, you are completely clueless as to how to go about it. Chocolate and roses are so overdone (although I personally can enjoy some flowers along with a huge teddy bear), so maybe this year, you want the day to be absolutely unique. Let me share a few of the best romantic and cute ideas of things to do on Valentine’s Day. You can thank me later!
1. Breakfast in Bed
How about dishing up a little love by preparing a delicious breakfast for your beloved and serving it in bed? As they say, good food is the way to someone’s heart. You can make some waffles or pancakes and jazz them up with whipped cream and strawberries. You can even sprinkle some chocolate syrup.
Break some eggs and cook a scrumptious cheese omelet with some toast. Most importantly, don’t forget the morning coffee! After it is done, place the food on the bed tray with some roses and a cute little love note. You can order your flowers at Couleurs du Temps.
2. Stay in a Suite
Pack away a few belongings and go on a short couple’s retreat. I would especially recommend this if you are a stressed-out parent or a burned-out workaholic. Send your kids off to their dear old grandparents, cancel all the appointments, and book a cozy suite for just the two of you.
Spend your time lazily snuggled up with each other in bed, watch a romantic movie on Netflix, order away your comfort food, and talk to your heart’s desire with zero interruptions and diaper explosions. You can also consider a one-night stay at a B&B.
3. Recreate Your First Date
The giggling girl, the lame jokes he cracked, and those stealing glances caught red-handed… Oh, and that restaurant with dim lights and weird food somehow became a favorite place in your mind. Would you two like to relive that night?
Dress up, be sure to put on the very same cherry-red lipstick and that green tie, and plan to meet each other at 8. This year, your Valentine’s Day will be quite memorable! Recreating a first date is also very popular for marriage proposals. Just saying…
4. Take a Bubble Bath
Bubble baths are not only romantic, they are actually quite therapeutic. They have the power to cleanse and soothe you inside out. If you are a little harried and short on time, take out an hour and jump into the bathtub with your significant other.
Set up the mood! Light scented candles, dim the lights, put on relaxing music, fill up the bath with water and add some salts and bath bombs, and plunge! Add some strawberries and a bottle of champagne and this is one of the must things to do on Valentine’s Day.
5. Get a Couples Massage
A couples massage is one of the hottest treatments at luxury spas all over the world. What could be more romantic than lying side-by-side with your boyfriend, girlfriend, or spouse in the most relaxing environment?
If a full-body massage is not your cup of tea, try a soothing foot massage, where you will get your tootsies rubbed by a professional. Or, for an even more intimate couples activity, you can learn how to give each other a sexy tranquilizing massage. If you are local, I highly recommend Magnolia Spa.
6- Make Love in an Exciting Location
Get out of the bedroom and take your lovemaking to a sexy location. Joining the mile-high club, which is getting intimate in an airplane, seems to be a popular choice. But, there are many other creative ideas too. How about getting busy on top of the washer, on a porch swing, in a field of wildflowers, or on a rooftop? Or possibly all of them?

So what are your plans for Valentine’s Day? I’ve done a combination of 1,2,4 & 5 for my wedding anniversary earlier this January and I can see myself doing something similar… If you are in a long time relationship I would definitely consider one of those options or something similar. Anyway, comment below and let me know.
Thanks for stopping by.

I know a lot of people have turned away from the idea of Valentine’s Day — too much pressure to spend money, give the perfect gift, etc. But I do like the idea of making Valentine’s Day a special occasion to focus on your loved one. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate romance. Thank you for sharing this post in the Talent-Sharing Tuesdays Link-Up 50.

Fun ideas Iris. Unfortunately my husband is not romantic so Valentine’s Day is not acknowledged! I’ve tried ideas like yours but to no avail. Thanks for linking.

These are great ideas. Although I am more like you husband, as is my husband, I do think it’s nice to be excited over the holiday and if something can help put a relationship front and center, I think it’s great. We live busy lives and so slowing down and making time for our partner is never a bad thing. I mean it’s not like I would say NO if my husband planned something or gave my some chocolates. LOL. Have a lovely day.
